I am thrilled to announce that I am diligently working on new music and a forthcoming album. This will mark the debut of music released under my own name—Michael David Smull—rather than The Godzilla Attacks Tokyo Kamikaze Blues Band. You may wonder why I’ve transitioned from one solo project to another, and the answer is quite straightforward. The name of my solo project was so lengthy that it became challenging for people to remember. I aim for simplicity; I want individuals to effortlessly search for my music on platforms like Spotify or Apple Music by entering my name and finding my work promptly.
The reality is that I initiated the Godzilla project during the COVID-19 pandemic to delve into the realms of recording and experiment with music composition. Although I’ve been writing songs throughout my life, I had never taken the step to share them with the world. Surprisingly, I ended up releasing three albums and numerous singles, creating a vibrant collection of music. The experience was not only enjoyable but also allowed me to connect with musicians globally. Collaborations emerged, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie. While the initial goal was merely to learn recording techniques and release music, my aspirations have evolved.
Now, my focus has shifted towards performing more solo acoustic shows or collaborating with my friend Marshall. Currently, I have recorded five songs, and I am excited to announce the imminent release of a new song—either today or tomorrow. Following this, I plan to unveil additional singles and, eventually, a complete album. Simultaneously, I intend to compile and release an album comprising songs from my Godzilla project, carefully selecting tunes that resonate with the new musical direction.
Keep your eyes and ears wide open for the forthcoming release of new music from Mike Smull!
